Many foodbanks require a referral for support and our IAF mentors can support you through this process to ensure your basic needs are met.
For young people in Nottingham, your local Trussell Trust foodbanks are coordinated by Hope Nottingham who operate 14 collection points across the city. Please note, these foodbanks are not open to the general public so please speak to your IAF mentor for help with a referral before visiting. Once your referral is complete, you'll be able to pop by your nearest location during their allocated collection windows to pick up what you need.
By virtue of being a big city, Nottingham also has lots of social eating projects for those not eligible for foodbank vouchers. Social eating projects support local sustainability and bring communities together to share warm meals for a small charge. To view what's on in your area and find out more, click here.
Too Good To Go bags are another great resource for accessing discounted food supplies in the local area. Unlike foodbanks or social supermarkets, the Too Good To Go app will list 'surprise bags' of food, supplied by local restaurants and shops nearing closing time, at heavily discounted prices to prevent food waste. Download the app for free via your app store provider to browse availability but be aware the 'surprise' items you receive could be anything from their menus.
