Many foodbanks require a referral for support and our IAF mentors can support you through this process to ensure your basic needs are met.
For young people in Mansfield, your local Trussell Trust foodbanks are St Peter’s Food Bank, Church Side, Mansfield, NG18 1AP or Sherwood Forest Foodbank , 12 Church Street, Mansfield Woodhouse, NG19 8AH. Please note, these foodbanks are not open to the general public so please speak to your IAF mentor for a referral before visiting. Once your referral is complete, you'll be able to pop by during their allocated collection windows to pick up what you need.
In addition, Mansfield also benefits from social supermarkets, which receive food/clothing and other items no longer needed by other local stores to sell within the community. Yearly membership to your local community shop costs £1 per household and once a member, you can purchase food parcels containing basic essentials for just £3.50. Simply stop by Arena Church between 10:30am - 12pm on either Tuesday/Wednesday with proof of address, to register and shop. Alternatively you can pick up a membership to one of many Food On Our Doorstep (FOOD) clubs supported by Family Action. For an annual membership fee of just £1, you'll have an opportunity to buy quality food bags worth between £10-15 each week for a reduced price of £3.50. Too Good To Go bags are another great resource for accessing discounted food supplies in the local area. Unlike foodbanks or social supermarkets, the Too Good To Go app will list 'surprise bags' of food, supplied by local restaurants and shops nearing closing time, at heavily discounted prices to prevent food waste. Download the app for free via your app store provider to browse availability but be aware the 'surprise' items you receive could be anything from their menus.
